Sodium Chloride Injection, USP 0.9%, also known as Saline solution, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, aqueous preparation of sodium chloride. It is indicated for injection to restore fluid and electrolyte balance in individuals. This balanced fluid has a pH of between 6.5 and 7.5, and its osmolarity is approximately 290 milliosmoles per liter (mOsm/L).
Mannitol Solution, USP 20%
Mannitol Injection, USP 20%, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution of mannitol. It is administered subcutaneously to treat dehydration. The solution is hyperosmotic and exerts its effects by drawing water from the intracellular space into the vascular space. This increases plasma osmolality, which in turn decreases edema formation.
- Commonly used for treating conditions such as: glaucoma, cerebral edema, and oliguria.
- Always the solution is stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
